GENESEE COUNTRY VILLAGE AND MUSEUM WEDDING

Congratulations Lindsay and Adam! They got married over the weekend! They had an awesome venue! Their reception was at the Genesee Country Village and Museum. What a cool location. Everyone has probably visited there during their grade school days on a field trip. I know we did!

The Village actually does not open until next week to the public. So, Lindsay and Adam's guests had the run of the entire property. That was great for us as well. We could go anywhere on the grounds and not have to worry about crowds of people being around.

This was taken at the end of the night at the Hamilton House. We loved this Victorian style home. I wish I could live there! For this image, Neal wanted to capture the entire house. That is why Lindsay and Adam are outside of the gate. We added our own lighting hidden behind the bushes to light up the house. I was helping to add some light on their faces. It was chilly out, so Lindsay and Adam got really close and cuddled up for warmth. Perfect!

Now, I wish I could say that this ended the night 100%. Photography wise yes!! Tammy, a lovely staff member was in charge of driving guests on the grounds in a golf cart that night. We had asked her if she could take us out to the Hamilton House for that last shot. As we were getting back into the cart, she got a radio call, that one of the oxen, Dan, had gotten loose. She needed to help round him up. This was a first! We headed over the Dan, and let me just say, he was giant. He had massive pointy horns as well. Now, we are all sitting in a large golf cart that has no sides. Lindsay, Adam, and I were pretty much exposed. Neal was riding up front with Tammy safely behind a plexiglass window.  Tammy was slowly driving at Dan to push him back to his home. It was a little scary.

Then this happened! Dan decided to peek his head into another of the workers cars. Oh no! We had to get a photo! Long story short (too late haha), we needed to get Lindsay and Adam back to their party! We had to leave the herding back to the staff at the Genesse Country Village and Museum.

What a different story to leave with! But, we got to end the night with the beautiful image of Lindsay and Adam!

ENGAGEMENT SHOOT IN BROCKPORT NY

We are 100% kicking off our season tomorrow for Lindsay and Adam's wedding! Here is an image from their engagement shoot we did in Brockport!

Look at these colors! We were walking around the area and Lindsay mentioned a cute little park they would like some photos at. The sidewalks were lined with bright red and orange trees. The light was hitting this spot perfectly. I love how it looks with Lindsay's dress too! We asked them to stop and sneak in this little area. A nice smile for the camera!

We are so excited for tomorrow and can't wait to capture Lindsay and Adam's wedding. We are also pumped because Neal and I get to shoot this wedding together! We are currently booking separately now, but are still each other's assistant if the other is not booked. We are ready to have so fun with Lindsay and Adam!

PS. Just a quick reminder from the other day that we will be taking the weekend off from blogging during wedding season. Have a great weekend and we'll see you back here on Monday with brand new work!

FAMILY ENGAGEMENT AT DELAWARE PARK

So, we saw Nick and Jill's little pup Bentley the other day, but only his sleepy little face. This is a nice family shot taken at Delaware Park for their engagement session.

As I mentioned before, working with dogs is always tricky. You never know if they are going pay attention. Bentley was great! Every time we called his name, his ears went up and he looked right at us. We were pretty lucky. That doesn't happen often.

When our clients ask if they can bring their dogs for engagement photos, we always tell them to bring someone else to the shoot with them. We work with the dogs first and then send them away with whoever came a long. This helps us to get amazing images with just the couple. They will not be worrying about their dogs or what to do with them when we are not taking photos of them. It is just much easier. And since Neal and I are both shooting, we can't look after them either. Even though sometimes, I would not mind sneaking away and playing with the dogs.

TOAST BY THE BEST MAN!

Here is an oldie from a few years ago! This is from Natalie and Joe's wedding! They had such a fun wedding party. The Groomsmen were hysterical. Neal and I found ourselves almost crying laughing at times!

This is a shot from the Best Man's speech. I do not remember exactly what he was saying, but I do know that every guest was laughing out loud. Including Neal and I. The rest of the guys couldn't resist and had to video on their phones. I thought it would be pretty funny to get all of them doing this and as you can tell his speech was well documented!

You never know what is going to happen or be said during speeches. Sometimes I feel really bad for the Bride and Groom. There are always some embarrassing moments they wish were not made public. But I guess that's what friends are for. As long as no feelings get hurt.

SLEEPY DOG!

Meet Bentley!

I know you can't see all of him, but I couldn't resist. This image is too cute. We started Nick and Jill's engagement session at Delaware Park. We had just started and only walked a short way, and you could tell Bentley was already tired. We started in the rose garden area. If you know the park, you know that is it super close to the road and not a far walk.

Nick went to pick him up so we could move on, and Bentley rested his head right on his shoulder. We stopped him and had Jill sneak in right on the side. Slowly Bentley's eyes started to close. He was falling asleep like a newborn child! It was hysterical. Poor pup!

CHERRY BLOSSOM ENGAGEMENT SHOOT

Rise and grind! It's Monday and everyone is back to work. Ugh Mondays!

Anyway, this past week we had an engagement session with Nick and Jill. We have had to reschedule 2 times due to the weather. Our original location was to be at Knox Park State Farm. Well, day of once again, the weather was not cooperating out that way. It was beautiful here in Buffalo, so we asked them if they wanted to head to Delaware Park or reschedule again. They were on board and we were shooting!

We had to select a location that was dog friendly because they were bringing their pup Bentley (you will meet him tomorrow). As we were shooting around the park, Neal noticed the cherry blossoms across the way at the Japanese Gardens. Now, we have never been able to do a shoot when they were in bloom, so we were pumped to head over there and take advantage! Nick and Jill were super excited as well.

It was so pretty! I love the colors in this image. We had Nick and Jill stand right in the middle of the trees so it created a tunnel of color! They loved it!

The rain held off until we finished and all got into our cars. Thank God!

SNOWY END TO THE NIGHT AT THE COLUMNS

I know everyone has been out and about enjoying the last few days of warmth and sunshine! Today I am bringing back some snow. I know what you are thinking. Is she crazy? But, I love this image Neal took of Allison and Dan in the beginning of April at the Columns Banquet Facility.

The day started off good. Just a little chilly. But come dinner time, a blizzard was in full effect. It continued into the late evening as well. Being photographers, we like the challenge to attack the storm. This was taken at the end of the night. Part of the grounds at the Columns had trees with twinkle lights on them. Those are always great for a back drop. Especially if it's raining or snowing.

Neal asked Allison and Dan to snuggle up really close to stay warm. He used the twinkle lights as a "bokeh" ("the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light"). He did need to use and extra light behind the couple as well as some fill light on their faces.

Even though I was not present at this wedding, I could still write about this image. Neal gave me the back story of the image, but I could pretty much tell what he had in mind because we do this as a team so often... At this point in the night Neal sent Adelle (his assistant) home and he did all of the lighting in the snow by himself!

HAT BOX FOR TWO!

I couldn't resist posting one more photo from our twin newborn session at Neal Urban Studio!

If Ruby and Maddy grow up to be anything like their mommy, they will have some expensive taste in fashion! We found this hat box at an antique store a long time ago. We have only ever used it as a prop in the back ground and it was normally out of focus. When we heard how tiny these ladies were, we wanted to test it out and see if they would both fit.

With the help of our assistant Alyssa, we got them in. It took a little time (not much) to get them placed exactly how Neal needed to take the shot. And the girls would not be complete without headbands and pink necklaces!

STABLES AT KNOX FARM!

Let's show you one more from Rori and Marc's engagement session at Knox Farm State Park!

This was taken at a part of the park we really never explored before. It was done at some horse stables. This area had a nice and rustic feel. Just what Rori and Marc were looking for. The pups were tagged out for this photo and hanging out with me, while Neal took advantage of this area.

We had Marc lean in toward Rori for a nice, romantic moment. We wanted them to feel like they were all alone in the middle of nowhere. Unfortunately, all the dogs had eyes directly on mom and dad for this one. It was pretty funny. I am so happy Neal was able to get this beautiful image. Those cute dogs were such a distraction. We just wanted to play the whole time!

A HAPPY GREYHOUND FAMILY AT KNOX FARM!

I mentioned in yesterday's blog, that Rori and Marc drove up this weekend with their 3 dogs for an engagement shoot at Knox Farm State Park.

Here are the 3 pups! Meet Gardenia, Ike, and Chloe (I hope I spelled the names right)! They were such great dogs. They were so calm and lovable.

We took a little walk trough the Park and found some tall grass. We had the whole family in the tall grass, while Neal took the photos through the grass. It's always tough with pets, especially to get them to look at the camerat the same time. And this time, we had to get the attention of 3 dogs! I would say we all did a good job!

I love the lighting in this photo. I love the golden color that was cast on Rori and Marc! We told Rori and Marc to not pay attention to the dogs either. We would take care of that.

It was such a fun shoot with the dogs. They definitely got a workout and were fast asleep as soon as they got back to the car!
