SNOWY END TO THE NIGHT AT THE COLUMNS
Friday, April 22, 2016 at 8:00AM I know everyone has been out and about enjoying the last few days of warmth and sunshine! Today I am bringing back some snow. I know what you are thinking. Is she crazy? But, I love this image Neal took of Allison and Dan in the beginning of April at the Columns Banquet Facility.
The day started off good. Just a little chilly. But come dinner time, a blizzard was in full effect. It continued into the late evening as well. Being photographers, we like the challenge to attack the storm. This was taken at the end of the night. Part of the grounds at the Columns had trees with twinkle lights on them. Those are always great for a back drop. Especially if it's raining or snowing.
Neal asked Allison and Dan to snuggle up really close to stay warm. He used the twinkle lights as a "bokeh" ("the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light"). He did need to use and extra light behind the couple as well as some fill light on their faces.
Even though I was not present at this wedding, I could still write about this image. Neal gave me the back story of the image, but I could pretty much tell what he had in mind because we do this as a team so often... At this point in the night Neal sent Adelle (his assistant) home and he did all of the lighting in the snow by himself!
