ENGAGEMENT SESSION AT NIAGARA SQUARE

Happy Friday everyone! Here is another image from Kaitlyn and Dan's engagement session!

This was from the start of their shoot at Niagara Square. Niagara Square has so much to offer. Besides, the architecture, there are amazing flowers surrounding the whole square. We were a little nervous that the flowers and plants might not look so good because of the lack of rain. However, the colors were so vibrant. There was actually a woman watering them during the shoot!

We had Kaitlyn and Dan stand on one side of the flowers and we were on the other. It was a little breezy out, so we had to sway with the wind to make sure the flowers were not covering their faces.

Kaitlyn and Dan were great to work with. They have an amazing connection. They were laughing the whole time. We got natural smiles and tons of fun! We can't wait for their wedding next year!

NIAGARA SQUARE ENGAGEMENT

Hi everyone! I am back today! Still trying to cope with these allergies. They are really taking a toll. But, the Blog must go on...(thank you Neal for posting yesterday)

Michaela and Aaron are getting married Saturday! What an amazing couple! Neal has the pleasure of photographing their wedding with one of our assistants, as I am booked separately that day (Check out tomorrow to see my couple). However, I did get to be part of Michaela and Aaron's engagement session.

We went to Niagara Square and City Hall for photos. They had a great night. It was a tad bit windy, but nothing too crazy. We worked around the entire area. As you can see here, this is not Niagara Square or City Hall. It was another building/mini courtyard across the street. The light looked so pretty on the buildings in the distance peeking through. Michaela took a seat and Aaron cozied up right behind her. And then a look off into the distance. Or, Niagara Square!

Congratulations Michaela and Aaron! I can't wait to see the wedding photos!

NIAGARA SQUARE BRIDE

I love this solo of Katie from her wedding in July of 2011. She looks stunning!

Katie and Chad wanted some of their photos done at Niagara Square. If any of our readers know Katie and Chad, you know they are an extremely fun couple. Chad can put a smile on anyone’s face (so can Katie). However, we needed Chad to tag out for this photo!

Katie’s veil was amazing. I think she knew Neal loved long veils! We had Katie lean up against one of the pillars and glance down toward her flowing veil. I love how both her dress and veil look like they were flowing in the breeze. Just beautiful!

GQ STYLE WEDDING PORTRAITS!

Can you say GQ Cover? I sure can! Kevin and Jeffrey got married in September. We did a tour of Buffalo for their photos. We started at Niagara Square. It also felt like the hottest day of the year, and they still look fabulous!

They were stunning! They had such great style. Kevin and Jeffrey had custom made suits as well! They could pose naturally and had such fun personalities. We could not take a bad photo of these handsome guys! Every image we captured could be used for a magazine cover. That is how amazing Kevin and Jeffrey looked.

You will definitely be seeing more of Kevin and Jeffrey!

STREET LIGHT ENGAGEMENT

We did Michaela and Aaron's engagement session Monday at Niagara Square in Buffalo.

We were the only people there, so we could utilize the whole area. And we sure did! We had already done photos with City Hall and the fountain, so it was time to change it up. As it started to get darker, the street lights really stood out. Why not take advantage of them. We had Michaela pull Aaron in by his lapel. The lights in the back ground looked awesome. There were so many and all different colors. They make the perfect back drop for this image!

We can't wait for their wedding next year!

All eyes on Lola the dog!

Here is another image from Chris and Christine's engagement session at Niagara Square.

They brought their dog Lola! She was so cute. I was getting so distracted wanting to play with her. We had Chris and Christine sit on a stone bench. She draped her legs over his. Then we brought in Lola. We told them not to worry about the dog and we'll see what she does. Christine's sister was with us as well with treats for Lola. Once the treat bag was out, Lola was smiling right at us. She really does look like she has a big smile.

I love when people bring their dogs! They can be so much fun to work with and add so much excitement to a shoot!

RAINY NIGHT AT THE STATLER

Hope everyone is enjoying their long Labor Day Weekend! Here is a rainy image from Kelly and Tom's wedding! But don't you love it!

There reception was at the Statler in Buffalo. It was time to take Kelly and Tom outside for some night images. It was not raining when we started. Niagara Square is super close to the Statler, so we took a quick walk over. We got some amazing images there. Right when we were finishing up, it began to rain. Tom took the umbrella and he and Kelly started walking back to the Statler. Little did they know, Neal was still taking images of them walking across the street. There was enough light from the street lights and traffic signals to brighten up the background.

This was a keeper, just turned black and white!

Wedding shoot at Niagara Square

Laura and Mike recently celebrated their third wedding anniversary!

Here is a beautiful image that was taken on their wedding day at Niagara Square in Buffalo. Niagara Square was pretty busy with weddings that day. There were already some wedding parties taking photos at City Hall when we arrived. We decided to go to the other side of the Square away from the crowd. This image is a little different than you are used to seeing. Mike and Laura are posed almost like statues facing eachother. That is all we wanted them to do. We were going for a different style of photo. Mike is a very funny guy! To get him to be still and not talk was not so easy. Once Mike got Laura laughing we were all laughing. We got some great candid reactions.

After everyone calmed down, this shot turned out beautiful. We had Mike and Laura stand directly in the center of the fountain. Which was also the center of City Hall in the background. Neal was able to incorporate both historic landmarks without getting any other weddings in the photo.

I really like this image. I think Mike and Laura were the perfect couple for this shot!

Happy Anniversary Mike and Laura!

BEAUTY AT OUR LADY OF VICTORY

Our Lady of Victory, aka, the Basilica, is an amazing church to photograph a wedding at. Everything about it screams beautiful. It is almost impossible to get a bad shot there! Everyone anticipates the Bride walking down the aisle as an amazing shot. I agree, but I also love the shot of her walking down, but from behind.

Neal was at the front of the aisle as Jenna and her father walked down the aisle. I am always in the back with the Bride and Bridesmaids before they walk down, documenting all the nerves. Jenna was nervous, but her sisters and father had her laughing and smiling. At one point, there was so much talking the organizer at the Basilica had to tell us all to be quiet. I guess you could say the nerves passed at that point.

It was Jenna's time! Before walking down, I always make sure the dress is perfect if nobody is there to do it. After a nice fluff of the dress, it was go time. The doors opened and Jenna and her dad started down. I always keep a little behind and crouch down, so I am not in Neal's photos in the background. I love this shot because you get to see the back of Jenna's amazing dress coupled with the beauty of the Basilica. There is so much detail in the ceiling, statues, and alter. You can see it all in this image. Another nice thing is the entrance was really bright from the sun. So, when the doors opened for Jenna to walk, there was enough light coming in from behind to light them up.

Simple. Elegant. Beautiful.

POSING THE MEN!

The focus today is the men and posing! It is always a challenge to continue to come up with different ways to photograph the Groom and Groomsmen. Most of the time, they are not really into the photos. We like to keep it simple and make them look cool and manly. We also want them to have a good time.

This image was taken at Niagara Square in Buffalo. This set up is not always the easiest, but Neal loves to try it when he can. The focus needs to be on the Groom, but we want all the guys partially in it. The best way is to place the Groom first and then scatter the Groomsmen around him. This can take a few minutes to get them exactly where they need to be. Once everyone is placed, Neal had them glance in all different directions. The reactions of the guys are funny, because they always ask, "What am I supposed to be looking at?" The answer is, "Nothing!" The Groom is the only person we want looking at the camera.

As you can see in this image, the Groom has a great smile. He was partially laughing because all the guys were making hysterical comments. It was a posed shot, but turned into being slightly candid too. After it was done, all the Groomsmen were curious what the image would look like. Neal gave them a quick look they all said "OOHHHH, we get it now. That's really cool!"

Some images are hard for people to understand at first because they are in them and can't see what we are looking at. But we say, "Trust us. You will love it!"

Stay tuned for tomorrow image of the girls almost in a similar pose that really wasn't planned!
