HAPPY DYNGUS DAY!

Happy Monday! And a Happy Dyngus Day to all of our Polish friends! Enjoy those pierogies and polka dancing!

Lisa and Ryan were married in September 2010. Their ceremony was at Our Lady of VictoryBaslica. A gorgeous church! After the ceremony, we always like to stick around and do photos there as long as we can. We sent the guys outside to hang out for a bit.

We wanted to have all the ladies involved for a shot in the Basilica with Lisa. As you can see, each bridesmaid is holding part of Lisa's veil. They were all laughing and celebrating! Lisa really didn't need to pose either. Neal just documented the scene.

I love how you can still see a lot of the Basilica as well. There is some light peeking in from behind that casts a nice little glow around Lisa too! Having Lisa face away from us also showed off her amazing dress!

TERRI & CORT AT OUR LADY OF VICTORY

Another Happy Anniversary to one of our couple's, Terri and Cort!

Terri and Cort do not live in town, so the first time we really got to meet them was the wedding day. It actually felt like we had known them for a long time. We all got pretty comfortable really fast!

Their ceremony was at Our Lady of Victory (Basilica) in Lackawanna. It is a magnificent church. We love shooting there. This was taken after Terri and Cort were pronounced husband and wife. They were processing down the aisle. The Basilica is a huge church with a super long aisle as well. So, there was plenty of time to get some great images of them walking out. They were casually talking to each other and laughing. We love this shot because it was very natural with them smiling and looking at each other. It is so pretty too with the church and guests in the background as well!

Happy Anniversary Terri and Cort!

DANIELLE & ANDREW AT OUR LADY OF VICTORY

One last Happy Anniversary haha! To Danielle and Andrew who also just celebrated their anniversary!

This was also taken at Our Lady of Victory (Basilica). However, this is an angle that you normally wouldn't see. This was after their ceremony. We always stay at the Basilica for photos inside and out. There is so much to work with.

This was taken close to the back of the church. After we cleared everyone out, we had Danielle and Andrew sit next to each other in one of the pews. Neal took this shot from directly across from them. The Basilica is a pretty dark church. Even though we were near the doors, we still needed some extra light on Danielle and Andrew.

I love this image from the Basilica. We do shoot there a lot, so we are always looking for different ideas to make everyone's wedding different.

Happy Anniversary Danielle and Andrew

BEAUTY AT OUR LADY OF VICTORY

Our Lady of Victory, aka, the Basilica, is an amazing church to photograph a wedding at. Everything about it screams beautiful. It is almost impossible to get a bad shot there! Everyone anticipates the Bride walking down the aisle as an amazing shot. I agree, but I also love the shot of her walking down, but from behind.

Neal was at the front of the aisle as Jenna and her father walked down the aisle. I am always in the back with the Bride and Bridesmaids before they walk down, documenting all the nerves. Jenna was nervous, but her sisters and father had her laughing and smiling. At one point, there was so much talking the organizer at the Basilica had to tell us all to be quiet. I guess you could say the nerves passed at that point.

It was Jenna's time! Before walking down, I always make sure the dress is perfect if nobody is there to do it. After a nice fluff of the dress, it was go time. The doors opened and Jenna and her dad started down. I always keep a little behind and crouch down, so I am not in Neal's photos in the background. I love this shot because you get to see the back of Jenna's amazing dress coupled with the beauty of the Basilica. There is so much detail in the ceiling, statues, and alter. You can see it all in this image. Another nice thing is the entrance was really bright from the sun. So, when the doors opened for Jenna to walk, there was enough light coming in from behind to light them up.

Simple. Elegant. Beautiful.

Our Lady of Victory.

Let’s be honest.  A lot of people are not able to attend a wedding ceremony or choose not to go.  It’s difficult for small children to sit still and be quiet for an hour. This image was taken by Neal at Our Lady of Victory in Buffalo.  More commonly know as just the “Basilica”.  This local icon is known to rival the great churches in Italy.

If you attend the wedding ceremony, pay attention, but do not be afraid to people watch, especially the little kids. This little guy was curious and exploring during the ceremony.  We almost weren’t sure where he was going to end up next.  Then this statue caught his eye.  The angel holding the bowl with holy water.  Most young children do not know the significance of holy water.  In this case, the little boy took it upon himself to start playing in the water.  From the angle of the shot, you would never know he was up to no good.  However, he was pretty quiet and most people didn’t even notice what he was doing.  He kept himself occupied for the rest of the ceremony.

This is one of the reasons why we always have 2 people photographing a wedding.  A set of eyes are always on the bride and groom, and the other can have the freedom to observe everything and everyone else!
