SNOWY END TO THE NIGHT AT THE COLUMNS

I know everyone has been out and about enjoying the last few days of warmth and sunshine! Today I am bringing back some snow. I know what you are thinking. Is she crazy? But, I love this image Neal took of Allison and Dan in the beginning of April at the Columns Banquet Facility.

The day started off good. Just a little chilly. But come dinner time, a blizzard was in full effect. It continued into the late evening as well. Being photographers, we like the challenge to attack the storm. This was taken at the end of the night. Part of the grounds at the Columns had trees with twinkle lights on them. Those are always great for a back drop. Especially if it's raining or snowing.

Neal asked Allison and Dan to snuggle up really close to stay warm. He used the twinkle lights as a "bokeh" ("the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light"). He did need to use and extra light behind the couple as well as some fill light on their faces.

Even though I was not present at this wedding, I could still write about this image. Neal gave me the back story of the image, but I could pretty much tell what he had in mind because we do this as a team so often... At this point in the night Neal sent Adelle (his assistant) home and he did all of the lighting in the snow by himself!

SHOE SHOT!

After showing yesterday's image of Christine's daughter helping with those amazing shoes, I figured we needed a close up for today.

After the ceremony at the Barton Hill Hotel and Spa, we headed down to the Lewiston Waterfront for photos. There is a wooden stairway that leads to the water. As Christine was walking down, she was holding up her dress. We asked her to stop and do a little pose to show off those shoes!

This pose is so cute to show off the shoes with a little of the dress showing as well!

MOTHER AND DAUGHTER MOMENT

Hope you are all enjoying the weekend so far!

Christine and Ron were married last year at the Barton Hill Hotel and Spa. Christine's daughter was one of the flower girls and a huge part of the wedding. We like to involve all of the bridesmaids when the bride is getting ready. For Christine's shoes, we decided to bring in her daughter for the job! And look at those shoes!

Her daughter was having a great time. They were laughing and making jokes! It was a wonderful moment between Christine and her daughter.

Wedding at Delaware Mansion

Sorry for the delay folks. To be honest, this past week our timing has been a bit off. My brother and family were visiting from California. We do not get to see them often, so most of our time was spent with our 2 and 5 year old nieces. There was lots of coloring, barbies, fairies, games, and dress up. We had so much fun and it was sad to see them return home today. But enough of that haha!

Sarah on her wedding day at the Mansion on Delaware! The room Sarah got ready in was great. I love this room for the bride. The windows are placed perfectly, with so much light coming in. Now, on Sunday I showed you the same pose that Neal had taken. Here it is again. You can see how different each bride is and the settings are different.

Sarah had a more antique style dress without a long train. But this pose still works lovely with her. She had a very thin satin dress with a stunning bodice. With a turn of the head and hand on the hip, another lovely image was captured!

And to top it all off, her mother actually made her bouquet. (She made everyone's bouquets). She did an amazing job!

Buffalo Bridal Portrait

Good morning Monday! Back to work! I bring to you today, a stunning image of Sarah!

This was taken by Neal before I even started to work with him! I do know some of the back story though! Sarah got ready at her parents home. The window was open in the room that she was getting ready in. Neal noticed there was a nice breeze coming in and the curtains were flowing beautiful.

At first glance, it looks like Sarah's veil is flowing. It is actually the curtains flowing in the breeze. Neal had her take a look out the window and let the curtains do the rest. I think Sarah just looks amazing! I wish I was there working on this one. I joined a few months after this wedding!

2 special moments in one photo

Neal here again to talk about my wedding with Allison & Daniel at The Columns. If you follow me on Facebook you would have already seen this photo from what it looked like in my camera. I took a photo of my camera's lcd screen of this photo and now here's the final version.

What makes this photo special? This was the exact moment that Daniel saw Allison as she and her dad turned down the aisle all in one shot!

While Allison's bridesmaids were walking down the aisle I noticed that from my angle I could see Daniel standing there in the reflection of the mirror. Instead of turning around to shoot Daniel, I used the mirror to my advantage, tt was great to capture two important moments in one photo!

END OF THE NIGHT KISS

We bring you one more snowy photo from Sarah and Aaron's wedding at the Mansion on Delaware!

This was the last shot of the night. The weather was getting a little worse and we had to work fast. Why not have Sarah and Aaron snuggle up really close and have a kiss!

Even though the Mansion is pretty lit up at night, I did have to use a light behind them. I love how it lit up the tree and gave an icy glow in the background.

What a great way to end then night and the first wedding of the season!

SNOWY NIGHT AT DELAWARE MANSION

Hi readers! I am back! Thank you to Neal for writing up his photo yesterday! It would have been pretty hard for me to blog about a wedding I wasn't at!

While Neal was shooting at the Columns Banquet Facility, I was photographing Sarah and Aaron at the Mansion on Delaware. I had the pleasure of having Shane (you should all remember Shane) as my assistant. We had such a great time. The day started out sunny and beautiful. Then the next thing we see is a blizzard outside. To be honest, I did not think the snow was going to happen. But, I was sure happy when it did for photos!

During the reception, I went outside to get some ideas for photos. I love the Delaware Mansion at night when it is all lit up. With the snow coming down, it looked beautiful. Earlier in the day, Sarah wasn't so sure about going outside in the snow for pictures. Lucky for us, as the night progressed, she was ready and willing to tackle the elements!

Shane and I had everything ready to go when Sarah and Aaron came out. All I needed to do was run across Delaware Avenue! Traffic was pretty slow, thank goodness, but the road was so slippery. I was praying I would not fall. I made it across with no slips! After some yelling across the street to Shane (he stayed with the couple) for a few adjustments, Sarah and Aaron looked perfect! I am so happy they toughed it out for this beautiful image!

-Danielle

Neal here, I have to chime in to say how beautiful this image is! I have to give Danielle and Shane kudo's on capturing it perfectly. It looks even better in high resolution and can't wait to see this in print! Danielle's lens choice was on point choosing a 50mm prime. I love how I can have my team working without me and creating beautiful images like this! Congrats to Sarah & Aaron!

A BRIDE AND A SHADOW!

And now for Ryan's lovely wife, Lisa!

This was taken at the Buffalo Waterfront. As you can see from the shadow, it was a pretty sunny day. We originally had Lisa against this wall by herself. Ryan was casually walking behind us and we noticed his shadow on the cement. After getting Ryan's shadow into place, we posed Lisa.

Lisa's pose is really simple. What made this more exciting, was Ryan was talking to her. She kept her head to the side the entire time, looking toward Ryan's shadow. But she was laughing the entire time! Look at those dimples!

This image is so much fun!

RUSTIC GROOM

I figured I would give you one more sequence of bride and groom solos this week!

We started Ryan and Lisa's photos in the Cobblestone District near the First Niagara Center. Check out Ryan! Can you say model! I sure can!

This spot was perfect for Ryan! The brick looks awesome with the little bit of light that was shining on it. I like how it just brushed over his face too. He looks amazing in front of the white door as well. Ryan was just hanging out! There is a nice elegant but rustic feel to this image as well!

-Danielle

Neal here, I love how Danielle brought this image out of the archives and put it in the spotlight. It's one of my favorite portraits that I've taken of a groom. I may have to put this on the official website!
