RUSTIC GROOM

I figured I would give you one more sequence of bride and groom solos this week!

We started Ryan and Lisa's photos in the Cobblestone District near the First Niagara Center. Check out Ryan! Can you say model! I sure can!

This spot was perfect for Ryan! The brick looks awesome with the little bit of light that was shining on it. I like how it just brushed over his face too. He looks amazing in front of the white door as well. Ryan was just hanging out! There is a nice elegant but rustic feel to this image as well!

Neal here, I love how Danielle brought this image out of the archives and put it in the spotlight. It's one of my favorite portraits that I've taken of a groom. I may have to put this on the official website!

A BRIDE AND HER LADIES!

I bet you could guess I would post Jaclyn and her ladies today! We can't have the men without the ladies!

The ladies were just as much fun as the guys. Maybe even a little more outgoing! Since the reception was at Pearl Street, we wanted to take advantage of the surrounding area. All of the architecture in that area is amazing!

This was taken in an alley! We had all the girls get really close and have fun! We didn't tell them how to pose either. These were real reactions and laughs. I love how each lady is doing something different too!

A GROOM AND HIS MEN!

I love this groom and groomsmen image!

Jaclyn and Tim had such a fun wedding party! As you can see, it was a pretty big wedding party. The guys were a lot of fun! They were really goofy and up for anything. I wonder if you notice anything when you look at this photo?

The road is on a slope, decreasing slightly in height from left to right. But, that's not what I wanted you to notice. Each guy has his own spot in line. They are actually increasing in height slightly from left to right as well! Let's just say that it was really fun figuring out the height differences!

It was also really neat because Tim was the tallest of the bunch! It sort of resembles a bar graph! Neal shot this from across the street. Good thing the guys all listened well and stayed in their spots. We would have had to yell pretty loud for them to hear us!

-Danielle

Neal here, it's fun looking back at this image... Since there was a slight elevation to the street, Tim's bridal party varied in height. I thought it would be cool to have everyone the same height for an image so this was the time to do it! Notice the straight horizontal line at the top, the road is slightly downhill yet the groomsmens heads stay parallel to the top line. Fun yet difficult image to imagine and create!

WEDDING PHOTOS AT NIAGARA FALLS STATE PARK

Going back to another wedding in 2010! Christina and Anthony had their pictures taken and Niagara Falls State Park!

Everyone who has been to the Falls knows it is always jammed with both locals and tourists. It is a pretty difficult location to take photos. Tourists love to take photos of the couple and with the couple. With the couple you may ask? Other cultures do not have the same wedding traditions, so they do not always have the white dress and wedding parties. It is fun for a few minutes, but we have a job to do and can only spare so much time!

We always try to find a spot where there are not many people. We found this great little nook! I love the framing of this as well. There is actually water behind them. I like how the trees almost blend in with it. They created a really cool swirly effect in the water.

When we get to a busy location, we need to think out of the box. Neal did an awesome job on finding this spot for Christina and Anthony. They could enjoy their wedding photos without being surrounded by giant crowds of people.

WINDY DAY IN BUFFALO

Here is Jaclyn on her wedding day back in September of 2010.  This was in an alley outside of Pearl Street Grill and Brewery.

Most of you already know Jaclyn and Tim from Neal's amazing hurricane photo at Buffalo's waterfront. This was taken after we left the waterfront and headed to their reception at Pearl Street.

The wind was still crazy out, but Jaclyn was willing to be outside for a bit longer. We worked with the ladies first and then kept Jaclyn. We were surrounded by a giant brick building. It was a great back drop. Her veil was still soaring as well. We had her pose right against the brick wall. Then we let nature take it's course. Her veil took off. Luckily, it wasn't as windy as the waterfront. We didn't need someone to hold onto it.

You can tell by the reaction on her face that she was having a great time. Even though the weather didn't cooperate, Jaclyn still looked stunning. And their photos turned out amazing! It was a wedding that we will not forget!

HAPPY DYNGUS DAY!

Happy Monday! And a Happy Dyngus Day to all of our Polish friends! Enjoy those pierogies and polka dancing!

Lisa and Ryan were married in September 2010. Their ceremony was at Our Lady of VictoryBaslica. A gorgeous church! After the ceremony, we always like to stick around and do photos there as long as we can. We sent the guys outside to hang out for a bit.

We wanted to have all the ladies involved for a shot in the Basilica with Lisa. As you can see, each bridesmaid is holding part of Lisa's veil. They were all laughing and celebrating! Lisa really didn't need to pose either. Neal just documented the scene.

I love how you can still see a lot of the Basilica as well. There is some light peeking in from behind that casts a nice little glow around Lisa too! Having Lisa face away from us also showed off her amazing dress!

NIAGARA UNIVERISITY BRIDE AND GROOM

Danielle and Paul had a beautiful wedding in August of 2011! We did their photos at Niagara University Campus.

NU is a great location for photos. There is a lot of contrast on the campus. We shot this right outside of the Chapel. There are mature trees and the buildings stone work are really beautiful.

We did a nice and simple pose with Danielle and Paul. We did use a little veil assistance for this image, which we really do not normally do. We didn’t want it to look like a windy veil. We just wanted to have it lighten up the trees on the right side as a leading line from the right corner of the frame. I think it worked out great!

HAPPY 1 YEAR BLOG ANNIVERSARY!

Today marks 1 year from when I took over writing the Neal Urban Blog! It has been so great reliving the weddings and shoots that we have had. I am very proud that I had a post ready for every day as well. (well almost haha. I know I missed a few due to technical issues).

This was not an easy task. When Neal asked me if I would like to take over, I was really excited. He didn't mention the late nights I would be up blogging due to our crazy schedule. There were many 1:00am nights I was laying in bed after a wedding and thinking, I forgot to type a new blog for tomorrow. I would get up and head to the computer. Good thing Neal is usually up. He always had an image in mind! It really was a team effort! It was definitely worth it though! We know it brought so many smiles to our clients and readers!

I hope all of our readers enjoyed hearing the back story of how we created some of our photos. I also hoped you enjoyed seeing some images that might not have been on the website. I loved being able to go through and select some silly or goofy photos. I wanted to show that Neal and I really do have so much fun with our clients. I know most followers know Neal for his artistic style edits. So, this is a great way to showcase some of the more simple and fun photos that do happen on all of our shoots.

I hope you will all continue to visit Neal Urban Blog. We have an awesome line up of weddings this year and I can't wait to chat about them! Cheers!

A BRIDE'S MOMENT ALONE

A few weeks ago, you saw a image of Melanie and Rich on their gorgeous wedding day! Here is a beautiful solo image of Melanie after she had gotten ready.

She got ready at her family home. There was this really cool closet with a window in it. There was great light coming in. We moved in an old wooden and chair and had Melanie have a seat. Then we asked her to glance out the window. Pretty simple right. Well it was actually a bit difficult. There were some trees outside and they were casting some shadows on Melanie’s face. We did need to move her around a little to get rid of them. Once we found the perfect placement, it was awesome!

TRANSIT VALLEY COUNTRY CLUB WEDDING

Lisa and Jay had an amazing day for their wedding in June of 2011!

They had their wedding and reception and Transit Valley Country Club. After the ceremony, we hopped in some golf carts and went around the golf course for some photos. The grounds were gorgeous that day. The grass were such a vibrant green, that it looked like it was glowing.

We had Lisa and Jay stand across from us at this pond. The reflections we were getting were so clear in the water. I love so much about this. Lisa and Jay were just having some alone time. They were chatting and laughing. Normally, we would have taken out Lisa’s flowers because they were so bright and they draw your eye right to them, instead of the couple. But, they looked really good in the overall scheme of the photo. The little wooden shed even adds to the beauty!
