MODEL BABY!

It is Friday and it is gorgeous out! Hope everyone can get outside for a little bit and enjoy this weather!

On Wednesday we had an amazing family come into Neal Urban Studio for a family session. Besides that, they wanted some "model" style photos for their 6 month old baby girl Nora. They are hoping to get her into some baby modeling.

Well baby Nora has it all. Look at this gorgeous little doll! What a cutie. She was all smiles the entire time. We planned on 2 outfit changes, but she was so good, that we ended up doing 4! Wait until you see the wardrobe station! (I will post next week)

Definitely more to come from this photo session! And I would say Nora is 100% model material!

HAPPY 1 YEAR BLOG ANNIVERSARY!

Today marks 1 year from when I took over writing the Neal Urban Blog! It has been so great reliving the weddings and shoots that we have had. I am very proud that I had a post ready for every day as well. (well almost haha. I know I missed a few due to technical issues).

This was not an easy task. When Neal asked me if I would like to take over, I was really excited. He didn't mention the late nights I would be up blogging due to our crazy schedule. There were many 1:00am nights I was laying in bed after a wedding and thinking, I forgot to type a new blog for tomorrow. I would get up and head to the computer. Good thing Neal is usually up. He always had an image in mind! It really was a team effort! It was definitely worth it though! We know it brought so many smiles to our clients and readers!

I hope all of our readers enjoyed hearing the back story of how we created some of our photos. I also hoped you enjoyed seeing some images that might not have been on the website. I loved being able to go through and select some silly or goofy photos. I wanted to show that Neal and I really do have so much fun with our clients. I know most followers know Neal for his artistic style edits. So, this is a great way to showcase some of the more simple and fun photos that do happen on all of our shoots.

I hope you will all continue to visit Neal Urban Blog. We have an awesome line up of weddings this year and I can't wait to chat about them! Cheers!

BASEBALL BABY!

Here is sweet baby Nicolas! He came to visit Neal Urban Studio last week.

Nicolas was such a curious little boy and did not want to sleep. All he wanted to do was look around and be a part of the conversation. Can you blame him! Even though he did not sleep too much for the shoot, we did get a few with him starting to doze off (before those gorgeous eyes snapped open)! His daddy is a huge baseball fan! He brought in some of his baseball things for us to incorporate. Nicolas looks so peaceful! I love it!

We got some great images of baby Nicolas. He was such a cutie!

I love when parents bring in some personal items for the shoots. Besides our creative ideas, we can use things that are meaningful to them as well!

BABY CONNER

This is baby Conner! He came to visit Neal Urban Studio this past week for his newborn photos. He was such a good boy too!

We had the pleasure of taking the photos for his parent's wedding last year. His father is an attorney, so we thought it would be fitting to incorporate something business like for them. What better than a leather brief case and some old vintage books!

Besides myself and Neal, we had Sarah, our baby whisperer, help with the photo shoot. She is so good with babies. Conner was a good sleeper, so it was pretty easy to position him. All we had to do for this shot, was lay Conner in the brief case! I wish I could say all newborn photos were this simple. But we got lucky!

This is just too cute!

BEAVER ISLAND PHOTO SHOOT

We had such a great family shoot Monday night with baby Emma and family! Isn't she a doll?!

The photo shoot was at Beaver Island State Park. Her parents actually had their wedding at the club house. What a great idea! Return to the scene of the crime haha. Just kidding! It is a beautiful location for photos. Emma was running around and having a great time when we arrived. We got some amazing images of her. But when it came time to bring the family in, she wanted no part. She wanted to run around, dance, smell flowers, look at the birds and airplanes. It was too cute. It is pretty normal for that to happen.

I love this shot. Before the flower was put in her hand, she had a tupper ware of snacks. I know I am happiest when I am eating! So, mom took them away last minute and said they were all gone. She quickly replaced it with a giant yellow flower. This was Emma's reaction. It was adorable!

Happy Saturday everyone!

MODEL CARS AND A NEWBORN!

Meet baby Joe! Isn't he adorable?! Baby Joe and family came to Neal Urban Studio this week for newborn photos.

This image would not have happened if Laura's(babies mom) mother did not suggest bringing these model cars. Great idea grandma!

Baby Joe's father, Joe and Laura's father are really into cars. They are restoring an old Corvette at the moment. It was so great to incorporate these into the photo with so much meaning behind it.

We had the cars all set up and it was time to bring in little Joe. Let's just say he wasn't cooperating very well at first. We can't blame him for not wanting to sleep, look how cool and colorful those cars are! But we were determined to make this happen. Sarah, our cousin who helps with the newborn shoots got the baby to calm down and get back into a deep sleep. These kinds of images are usually done in a sequence of shots. Both Sarah and I would have to hold up the baby on both sides so he didn't fall over. Then move our hands at different times when Neal told us. However, baby Joe was perfectly still and asleep that he stayed right on the car without us holding him. No trick photography here folks!! Thanks to baby Joe Neal got everything in one shot!

Love it! We can't wait to get baby Joe back in the studio for his 1st birthday shoot!

BABY SHOOT AT GLEN FALLS

Baby Abby had her photo shoot a few days ago at Glen Falls in Williamsville. Her aunt Dana is one of our August Bride's this year and wanted some photos of her 8 month old neice.

The shoot started off rocky. Poor Abby did not want to have her photo taken. Teething is not a great thing. But once she got comfortable, we got some great images! Her mother picked some beautiful outfits too! For this image, Abby had her fur and pearls on! Total glam! Her little brother was playing with bubbles, so we asked if we could use them. Abby did not want to be sit down on her own, so mom came in with the assist and held her. She calmed down right away. With mom holding Abby, I snuck behind with the bubbles and Neal was taking the pictures. It worked out great! I am not a pro bubble maker and it took me a while to get good bubbles. All I could hear in the background was, "Danielle where are the bubbles" haha. But we got it! Time to get a bubble maker!

Abby was a doll to work with! We can't wait to shoot Aunt Dana's wedding and hopefully see baby Abby!

SPLISH SPLASH!

If this image does not put a smile on your face, than I don't know what will. It is great for a Monday!

This little guy was amazing to photograph. He is one year old and a bundle of fun! Most of the time working with little kids is tricky because it takes awhile for them to get used to us and their surroundings. Not for this guy! He was smiling from the time he got into studio until the time he left.

Before the shoot even took place, we were throwing ideas around with mom. We told her our vision and she absolutely loved it! A week before, we needed to test out the bubbles. At home, I was experimenting with all different kinds, baby friendly of course. They were not lasting very long. So, we tried good old dish soap. And it worked. Mom was completely fine with it and said she uses them for the kids to play with all the time.

While Neal was shooting some basic portraits of the baby and his big brother, I excused myself to start making the bubbles. We do not have a private restroom in studio, so I had to make them in the public restroom. The women who walked in asked if I was doing a science experiement. My response was, "Nope, just making bubbles". It took about 10 minutes to get the amount we would need. Walking back to the studio with a bucket of bubbles was pretty interesting too. I was just praying I didn't drop any and have to start over.

Neal was all ready and had the baby set up for the shot. For lighting we used natural light coming in from our HUGE windows that are facing the Northeast which is beautiful light for photography, we also used bounce boards on the other side of our subject to keep it natural as possible. All I needed to do was fill in the bubbles. This little guy was having so much fun and didn't want to get out. It was such a fun shoot, we didn't want him to leave.

This image is a great way to start your Monday!
