BELUGA POINT BRIDE AND GROOM

Hi all! Definitely feeling a "Case of the Mondays" today. We are finally back home and trying to get back to normal from all of our recent wedding traveling. It has been to exhausting that I completely forgot to post a photo this morning. But, better late then never.

If you saw Facebook recently, you saw that we just shot a wedding in Alaska. This image is of that lovely couple Sheryl and Rob. Neal edited this image in the airport on our way home!

This was such a tricky image. On our first day in Alaska, we explored the area to find some places for photos. This area was about an hour and half from Wasilla, where the wedding took place. However, we knew we were shooting other days besides day of. Now, how were we to convince Sheryl and Rob to climb this mountain? As soon as Neal mentioned the location, called Beluga Point, they both knew exactly where and what Neal wanted. Sheryl said we would all be taking a drive to Seward (about a 3 hour amazing drive) and we would be passing Beluga Point. Perfect!

We took tons of photos on the drive and made this our last stop before heading back to Wasilla. Neal then says, "Danielle, I need you up there with Sheryl and Rob for lighting." Oh great. I hate heights and was terrified. But, with the guidance of Sheryl (who made it up in no time with her dress on), I was at the top!

Neal was so far away taking the shot, we had to communicate by phone. Good thing we had reception. After going back and forth a few times, the image was complete. And freaking amazing! It took longer to climb up than to get the shot!

Once again with the help of Sheryl, we made it down safe! Her words of wisdom, "Lean into the mountain!"

Side note: 3 of Sheryl's bridesmaids were with us and ended up climbing up as well! We had no idea they were there until they popped up behind us. Such troopers!

THE GUYS AT SILO CITY

After working with Michaela and the ladies at Kleinhans Music Hall, the wedding party headed down to Silo City. This was the perfect place for Aaron and his guys.

Aaron is a big fan of the industrial look. What better than railroad tracks and graffiti! This reminds me of an album cover. They all have that cool, but casual look. And so serious (even though, I think the groomsman on the right is smiling). But it still has a manly feel.

Neal said the guys loved this place. And I hear the ladies did as well! Awesome photo!

ALBRIGHT KNOX ART GALLERY WEDDING

For Amanda and Frank's wedding, we went to Albright Knox Art Gallery and Delaware Park for photos. Now, if any of you are familiar with these areas, you know on a typical summer Saturday, they are crawling with weddings. Well, when we pulled up, not one wedding was there. It was shocking. You bet we took advantage before any others showed up!

We started at the Gallery because that is usually where it gets busiest first. It was pretty hot out, so I wanted to keep everyone in the shade. The pillars are always so pretty for photos too. It was a bright and sunny day, so they were back lit nicely.

I loved Amanda's dress as well. The back was so pretty. I thought this would be a great place to show it off. And time to bring in Frank! A nice and simple pose with beautiful results!

THE LADIES AT KLEINHANS MUSIC HALL

After Michaela and Aaron's ceremony at Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum, Neal took the ladies across the street to Kleinhans Music Hall for photos.

He had the ladies walk around the outside of the building while he was shooting from across the way. He wanted all of the bridesmaids involved too. He had each of them hold a part of Michaela's veil as if they were fixing it for her. Then Michaela glanced over her shoulder toward her maid of honor.

I really like how the light is hitting her veil and lighting it up. It looks like Michaela is in a spot light. I guess it makes sense being at Kleinhans!

BRIDAL PORTRAIT AT FOUNDRY SUITES

Amanda looks absolutely amazing in this image! I had the pleasure of photographing Frank and Amanda's wedding last weekend with our assistant Shane (Neal was out shooting another fabulous couples wedding).

Amanda got ready at the Foundry Hotel and Banquets in Buffalo. That is also where they had their reception. This was the first time I was ever at this location. I loved it! The room was perfect for photos. Windows along the entire back wall! It was so bright and no extra light was needed.

We needed to move some of the furniture in this room for Amanda to get dressed in. I wanted to leave the couch because I thought it added a vintage touch to the room. And I knew I wanted to use it for a portrait with her. She had a gorgeous dress and I knew everything would work well together!

Well, here it is!

DELAWARE MANSION FIRST LOOK

Happy Monday! Michaela and Aaron were married last weekend. Neal and one of our assistants, Alyssa, photographed their wedding. (I had my own wedding to photograph that day). They decided to do a first look at the Delaware Mansion. They got ready there and had their reception at the Mansion as well.

It was a beautiful day. The courtyard was the perfect place for a first look. Everything was in bloom and the ivy was covering the brick walls. Neal had Aaron wait in the courtyard with his back to where Michaela would walk to see him. She came down the walk and tapped him on the shoulder. Aaron was in awe of how amazing Michaela looked. She was gorgeous.

Neal decided to capture this moment through the trees and greenery when Michaela got close to Aaron. I love the approach he took on this. All of the trees framed them right in. And I really like the window on the left. I like how the ivy covers almost everything, but left that exposed!

I had Neal tell me all about his wedding when he got home, so I got all of the details for the day. So, now I am able to write up the blogs for his wedding. (In case you were wondering why it was me haha)

Amazing first look!

OUTSIDE OF ST. JOSEPH'S CATHEDRAL

OK, so one more from Victoria and James wedding at St. Joseph's Cathedral. I swear we went to another location for photos. Neal actually took a quick look through the images (we are still working on a few weddings before theirs is up) and he couldn't resist editing this image. I couldn't agree more and had to share it with everyone.

The outside of St. Joseph's Cathedral is just as beautiful as the inside. Neal shot this from across the street from the church. After waiting for traffic to pass, we got this amazing image. Victoria and James both look stunning.

Now, when I say Neal edited this photo, I do not mean he added any filters or did anything crazy. This is actually straight from the camera. However, there was a giant picture on the church doors. It was too big to try and cover with the couple, so Neal edited that out. He said it took a lot of work, but it was defiantly worth it!

FAMILY SESSION IN THE BUFFALO THEATRE DISTRICT

Here is another image from the family session we had in downtown Buffalo. Here are Dan and his partner Dan! They contacted us to organzie the family session. We wanted to make sure to take some of just the two of them as well.

We started with the "Dan's" around Shea's. They both said they had no idea what they were doing or how to pose. Well, they were wrong. They looked like models. They were so natural and looked amazing. We didn't have to tell them how to pose at all. We learned at the shoot that we had photographed 2 sets of their friends weddings. Both couples said they didn't know how to pose or what they were doing. And they also did amazing and looked like models. It must naturally run in their circle of friends!

DOWNTOWN BUFFALO FAMILY SESSION

A few weeks ago, we had a fun family session in downtown Buffalo. I loved that they wanted to do something different besides a park style. We all met on Main St. in front of Shea's. We worked around that area and then walked down to Hotel at the Lafayette.

I didn't realize how many new businesses opened up around that area. So many new restaurants and shops. We decided to stop at a few spots for some quick photos.

This was in front of a cool French Bistro called Raclettes. Now, I have never been to Paris, but it sure looked like the cute little places they show on the travel channel!

I think this is such a fun family photo. It is so much different than our normal family style shoot! Neal and I are always looking for something different and we definately got it here!

ST. JOSEPH'S CATHEDRAL WEDDING PART 2

And we are back with Victoria and James (well not James in this photo) at St. Joseph's Cathedral in Buffalo!

This is a part of the Church that was actually on the altar. During the ceremony, we never go on the altar for photos. Neal had asked the priest before the ceremony, if we could use it for some photos afterward. He said no problem as long as we were done before 4:00 mass.

After moving aside a few chairs and kneelers, we were left with this amazing archway! Would you look at all of the detail? It is amazing and so beautiful. It was a perfect place to have Victoria stand and show off her gorgeous dress. I know this is a common pose, but it looks so different with each bride. And it's always different depending on the location.

Everything about this image screams stunning!
