VIEW FROM ACROSS THE ROOM

Here is an image from Christina and Nick's wedding at the Avanti Mansion!

This is not the normal view you would see of the ballroom. Neal had Christina and Nick stand at the top of the staircase and had them an intimate moment. Their reception dance party was at the bottom of the stairs. Neal told them to hold each other in their arms and reflect on the day. Neal shot this from the opposite end of the room standing on a chair. They did a great job posing as well, since Neal was not able to yell directions across the room. They nailed it on the first few shots.

Even after Neal was finished with the shot, Christina and Nick stayed at the top of the stairs and started dancing. Their guests took notice and began to cheer them on and took photos themselves. I think they actually stayed up there dancing for a few songs! Once they had their moment we moved on to other areas for some intimate photos that turned out beautiful as well.

Photographing weddings at the same venues frequently will always be a challenge. We need to make sure that each wedding is different and we aren't repeating the same shots. That can mean shooting from different angles, or using different lighting. In this case, I think Neal found a great new perspective!

The Wedding Dress at Avanti Mansion

This is one of my new favorite dress images!

This is Christina's wedding dress at the Avanti Mansion. Before her groom arrived, we took the dress into the library for some fun shots. Right when we hung it, we knew it was going to be awesome. The lighting looked so good paired with the color scheme of the room. Just beautiful!

RAIN SHOWERS AT AVANTI MANSION

A little rain never hurt anybody!

Christina and Nick had a rainy night on their wedding at the Avanti Mansion. The party was rockin' inside, so we took them outside really quick for an end of the night shoot. Umbrellas out, lights ready, and Neal in position. We were all set for Christina and Nick. We wanted to get them back into their party as quickly as possible.

Avanti has a nice giant parking area where we could set this up with nothing in the background, except darkness with a hint of trees. The added lights gave an awesome glow on the pavement. Christina and Nick were such great sports too. The wind was starting to pick up and the umbrellas got a little out of control. We had Christina look away and Nick went in for a whisper in her ear. I think the pose adds a bit of drama and mystery to the image. The shot was captured! All done within 2 minutes! I love ending on great images like this.

MIRROR MIRROR

Here is another image of Christina on her wedding day!

This was taken while Christina was getting ready at the Avanti Mansion. Mom was doing up the back of her dress and Neal asked her to look over her shoulder. I happened to be shooting near this mirror and caught Christina at a different angle. This mirror was pretty neat too with the series of three circles. 

It's so fun to get different images and angles from Neal or whoever may be taking the lead. Always keep your eyes open to your surroundings as well. You never know what you might see!

Avanti Mansion Wedding by Candlelight

WOW!! That's all I can say right now about this image! Christina and Nick had their wedding at the Avanti Mansion.

They had an intimate candlelight ceremony at Avanti Mansion. It was beautiful! The room was dark with a nice glow from only the candles that surrounded the entire room. This photo was taken during the reception. We only had a small window of time to capture photos outside. Neal knew he wanted to get this image so he let the crowd and staff clear the room. We asked the staff at Avanti if they could relight the candles on the mantle for the image and they did so without any questions asked. That's why we love to work there, the staff members are incredibly helpful. We wanted this photo to be a very intimate and romantic style of image. We had Nick take Christina in for an intimate kiss but we told him not go all the way. I love the way Christina has her hand on Nick's arm. Everything worked out amazing. They both look stunning! This image is beautiful in color but to make it feel more timeless and dramatic Neal turned to Black and White.

FIRST DANCE AT AVANTI MANSION

This is from Ashlee and Michael's wedding! 

They had a great wedding! We started off with their first look at Shea's Performing Arts Center. What a great location to see each other for the first time. And to do photos! Then we headed to Avanti Mansion where they had their ceremony.

This was taken during Ashlee and Michael's first dance. I love the dance floor at Avanti Mansion. I really like how they put the tables on both sides and keep the middle open. We asked Ashlee and Michael to dance right in the center. I love this because it also shows all the guests watching as well! It is such a beautiful first dance image!

LOVE AT AVANTI MANSION

Megan and Charles got married last year at the Avanti Mansion. They had their ceremony and reception there. This was the last shot of the night!

The Avanti Mansion has a really nice patio outside of the main ballroom. There are pillars that lead outside to the rest of the grounds. We had Megan and Charles stand right in the center of the pillars. We asked them to get really close to one another. Almost close to kissing. With a little help from some external lighting, we created this beautiful image!

NATURAL LIGHT!

Finding the best lighting can make or break a photo. Taking advantage of natural light is always beautiful if it's available and used properly.

We definitely found the light for this image. It was taken at the Avanti Mansion in Buffalo.  There are beautiful archways throughout the outside of the building. We were getting ready to end the photo session and head into the reception, when we noticed amazing light pouring through one of the arches. We had to take advantage of it. 

Neal wanted a simple, natural, but slightly artistic pose in the arch. Brides and Grooms do not always need to be looking at the camera or each other to get a beautiful image. The light continued to pour through as we were getting the Bride and Groom in position. There was another arch to the side of them that had light coming through as well, so we didn’t need to add artificial light.

You can see how it casts a glow around the couple. The cement block on the ground had a glossy finish to it, so it picked up the glow as well. We showed the image to the Bride and Groom right away. They were in love with it! The Bride said it was a beautiful, timeless, and worth the few extra minutes! And now it’s time to party!

BELLES OF THE BALL

This beautiful staircase is located at the Avanti Mansion in Buffalo,NY. It is a great venue for a wedding. In this image, it is being used for the bridal party to process into the ceremony.

Everytime I see this image, I think of a grand ball taking place in a giant mansion. In this case the Avanti Mansion! It seems as though the little girls are being announced into the party like princesses. It could be the biggest moment of their childhood. They were actually the flower girls in the wedding party.They were to walk down each side of the staircase and meet at the bottom. Without falling!!! I was facing the stairway head on in between all the guests. I had the shot in mind before the ceremony started. I was just hoping that none of the guests got in the way. Very nicely before the ceremony, I introduced myself to the few guests in the aisle and told them my vision. They all thought the idea was beautiful and respected that I had a job to do. I got set up and the flower girls did the rest! And an awesome job I'll say!

If there is a really awesome shot we want to get, we have no problem talking to people to make it happen. We want to keep a good relationship with everyone and not step on any toes. We are there to get amazing images for the couple! And it worked out great here!
