STATLER CITY BRIDAL PORTRAIT

Monday is here again! Today's image is from Nina and Greg's wedding. We just came across this and have no idea how I could have missed it to put on the Blog.

Nina at Statler City. Their wedding day was pretty rainy and windy. We all toughed it out for some photos outside and got some really great images. Then we went right to the Statler to take advantage of the inside, before guests arrived.

Look at Nina! She looks stunning. I love all the different angles and areas we used for Nina and Greg's portraits at the Statler. I really liked how Neal shot across the balconies, using the archways. We added some extra lighting to create a nice glow on Nina for this.

Another favorite!

STARLER CITY BRIDE AND GROOM ON THE BALCONY

I had to post this image of Nina and Greg at Statler City!

Like I mentioned in yesterdays blog, Nina and Greg pretty much had the entire Statler building for their wedding. We decided to head up to the second floor for photos. There are just so many places to take photos at the Statler. We already took advantage of the long hallways, so it was time to experiment shooting across the way from balcony to balcony!

I need to thank Nina's Matron of Honor for assisting on this image. She was on veil duty. She already had some practice earlier, so was pretty much a pro by now. I was on lighting duty, as Neal was shooting from across the way. Let's just say we had so much fun. The Matron of Honor was making us all laugh, and Neal had no idea what was going on. We had to try and do a 1,2,3 serious face. Nina and Greg did it! Right on que, they got into this amazing moment. And they veil was perfect!

Statler Golden Ballroom

Happy Monday! Nina and Greg have so many amazing images to share. I just can't help myself.

Look at this! It is not often where we can take a photo of the bride and groom in their reception room without anyone in it. We finally got to take advantage for Nina and Greg at the Statler. We got back to the Statler with a lot of time before the reception to do photos there. What was great about this wedding was Nina and Greg had both rooms booked at the Statler. Cocktail was in one room, and dinner and dancing in another. None of the guests were allowed in the Ballroom until being seated for intros and dinner.

This gave us an opportunity to take a few photos of Nina and Greg in the Ballroom. And I must say, this is gorgeous! I love the elegant tables as the background. We couldn't have asked for a prettier view!

STUNNING BRIDE AT STATLER CITY

Welcome back readers! Today we bring you an image from Nina and Greg's wedding at Statler City.

This is one of my favorite images from their wedding. Nina is stunning! After the ceremony at St. Louis RC Church, we headed to Niagara Square and Buffalo City Hall for photos. The weather was not so great. Super super windy and rainy. We all toughed it out for a few images, then headed to the Statler for a few more!

I am so happy that we got to take advantage of taking photos at the Statler before the reception. Just look at this amazing image of Nina. I don't even know what to say. Everything about this image is gorgeous. With some assistance of the bridesmaids, we helped Neal to create some action with Nina's veil. With some added lighting and a lot of excitement, we captured this image.

Nina was having so much fun. Her bridesmaids were cheering her on and made this moment perfect for Nina (and us for the photo)!

TERRACE ROOM FIRST DANCE

Here is another image from Kristin and Jared's wedding at Statler City. Their reception was in the Terrace Room. This is my favorite room there. I love the giant windows and chandeliers.

Kristin and Jared were such a fun couple as well. Jared was such a joker and always had everyone laughing and smiling.

This was taken during their first dance. And you probably guessed right if you thought Neal took this. He sure did! He loves taking these wide shots. Their dance was at a great time too. There was some beautiful light coming in the windows. But, I like how you can still see all of the lighting inside. Once again, it gives a nice warm glow.

I love this shot!

STATLER CITY BRIDE

We had the pleasure of photographing Kristin and Jared's wedding over the weekend. Their ceremony and reception were at Statler City!

This was the first time we did a ceremony at the Statler. It was pretty cool. They held it on the 2nd level mezzanine. This was taken after the ceremony in the mezzanine! The family and wedding party dispersed to cocktail hour and I pulled Kristin aside to get this quick shot!

I loved the arches and chandeliers from this view. Kristin looked amazing framed in the arches with the giant chandelier behind her. I had Kristin pose to the side with her flowers and look down. Then I ran down the hall to take the shot. I really like the glow from the chandelier as it perectly frames Kristin.

Now, you may be wondering why I haven't mentioned Neal yet. This was the first wedding he assisted me on. Yes, assisting me! Neal didn't have a wedding of his own and we gave our other assistants the weekend off. We were running low on time after the ceremony so I asked him to start shooting the details in the reception room while I created this shot with Kristin!

Congratulations to Kristin and Jared!

WEDDING AT STATLER CITY

Statler City is a wonderful venue for a wedding reception. The rooms are beautiful to hold your special day in! This reception was located in the Terrace Room. There are massive windows along the entire back wall of this room.

We always arrive at the reception before the guests start to arrive to get shots of the room. They always look better with no one in them to get all the details. We also like to have the Bride and Groom back to freshen up and have a few drinks! While shooting the details, Neal asked if I could grab the Bride and Groom really quick for a shot before anyone arrived. There is a Bridal suite off to the side, so it was easy to find them. To the back of the room, there were giant statue type columns in front of one of the windows. The windows had interesting curtains and drapery. There was also a giant chandelier hanging from the ceiling. What a great spot for a photo!

Let's bring in the newly married couple. Instead of having them look at the camera, we decided to go with a more artistic pose. We posed the Bride with her back to us, with a slight profile of her face. Then brought in her Groom facing her. We had the Groom bring in his wife just a little. Then had her drop her bouquet to her side. Neal needed a tiny bit of fill light besides the light coming from the chandelier. We wanted a nice glow on them, but keeping a elegant overall feel to compliment the scene.

You can see the giant smile on the Groom's face as he looks at his wife. And even though you cannot see the Bride's entire face, you still see her happy reaction from the side. The couple almost looks like statues waiting to go in for a giant kiss! And don't worry, they did go in for a kiss right after this shot!

SHADOW GAMES

Today’s image comes to you from Statler City in Buffalo. If you have been to the Statler before, you may be wondering where we could have taken this image.

This wedding took place a few years ago, when the majority of the Statler was under construction. (Well more than it is now). Even though there were renovations going on, this Bride and Groom wanted some pictures done around the building. There were many places that were restricted, so we needed to work our magic. The head wedding and events coordinator at the Statler is wonderful to work with. We saw her walking around and asked where we could go. She said she would take us up to one of the top floors, where eventually there would be hotel rooms. It had views of the city. The Bride and Groom were completely up for taking the adventure.

It was pretty much a blank canvas surrounded by windows and wall paper. We took advantage of the windows with the city in the background. As I was walking around a bit, I noticed the sun was setting and casting an amazing glow across some of the walls.  And my shadow looked really cool on the wall. I grabbed Neal and suggested we play with some shadows. The Bride thought it looked really cool as well, so we had her pose. It took a few minutes to get her shadow exactly where we needed it to be. Then we needed her to be a statue for Neal to get the shot. The Bride did a wonderful job and the end result was beautiful! And don’t worry, the Groom was not left out. We took him to another area that had some graffiti on it. A bit more manly!

You make me wanna shout!

It’s Friday and the weekend is here! Why not start it off with this image taken during a wedding reception at Statler City in Buffalo. Some of the best images of the night take place on the dance floor, so don’t leave early or you’ll miss out on these fun photo opportunities.

If you have seen the movie “Animal House” then you know these iconic moves. You know it will be a great party when the Bride and Groom get in on the action to this song.  And that is exactly what happened here.  What makes this image even more special is the parents and siblings of the Bride and Groom are taking part and surrounding the happy couple. The dance floor was so pack, Neal had to crawl over the crowd to get this shot. The newly joined families had such a close relationship to one another that it was well worth the crowd surfing to capture them on the dance floor together.

We got the pleasure of capturing hundreds more of exciting images just like this throughout the whole night. The party never stopped!

Don’t be afraid to let loose and show off your dance moves at the reception. The Bride and Groom will appreciate it and we’ll be there to document!
