A wedding toast at Asbury Hall

Continuing with our "Still life Sunday" theme of the blog, who wants some Champagne?

This was from Renee and Patrick's wedding in June of 2014. I loved their champagne flutes! The reception was at Asbury Hall. They have string lights that go across the hall. They are great to incorporate into photos, like we did here! Even though they are blurred, they look pretty cool! Neal's idea was that the lights resemble champagne bubbles. I also really like the detail in the actual champagne. You can still see all the bubbles!

So, whose ready for a mimosa?

Bubbles at Asbury Hall!

Colin and Donielle just got married last Saturday June 13, 2015! It was an amazing wedding.

It took place at Asbury Hall (Babeville). It was right in the middle of the Allentown Art Festival. So, of course we took a walk in the festival to do some photos. Stay tuned for an image from the festival!

This was taken at the end of the night. This cool bubble wall was located right across the street. It is the Starlight Studio and Art Gallery. It is such a fun wall that we needed to use! After Donielle changed into her party dress, we headed over. On the way, Colin told us that his nickname for Donielle was "Bubbles". We had no idea. This was so great! We could get a fun image with some meaning behind it!

All we needed was for Colin to pick up Donielle. She is a dancer, so she knew what to do. She kicked up that leg with a pointed toe! Then we had her go in for a kiss. Colin and Donielle were so much fun to photograph. They both had wonderful personalities! It was such a great way to end the night!

CIRCLE OF LIFE

Take a look. What do you see? If you can find it, you will know why this image has this title.

This wedding took place at Asbury Hall, or Babeville in Buffalo. This venue has an awesome balcony that almost goes around the entire perimeter of the hall. It is an added bonus for photography! The Bride and Groom were very family oriented and wanted a group photo of all the guests. This is usually a tough request, especially when there are over a 100 guests. Most of the time, we need to find a higher vantage point to get everyone in the photo. Good thing for the balcony!

The only request we asked the Bride and Groom was to have the DJ make an announcement for all the guests to make their way to the center of the dance floor and we would do the rest. Neal was on the balcony directing and I was at eye level doing the same. Once everyone was in place, Neal snapped off about 50 shots. Have to be safe when there are that many people. There are bound to be eyes closed or people not looking at the camera. But at least a handful should be perfect.

So have you found it yet? Do you feel like you are playing “Where’s Waldo”? This group of people had a great time in this shot. Even the family holding the baby up over the group. It looks like the scene from “The Lion King”, where Simba is born and introduced as the next king when he is older. We did not notice the baby until going through the shots after the wedding. Well done by the parents of the baby, making this a group portrait with a twist!

EXCITEMENT IN BABEVILLE!

Wow! I know what you’re thinking, “A guy with a sword at a wedding”. How crazy is that?  Well, it did happen, among some other amazing things.

This reception was one for the books. It took place at Asbury Hall in Buffalo, also known as “Babeville”. The Bride and Groom had the guests sitting on the edge of their seats. The couple are very into the arts. The Bride is a belly dancer that travels all over performing. The Groom is a videographer that films many of these performances and helps bring them to life.

It all started before we even got out of the car at Babeville. In the parking lot, there were fire twirlers, also called POI. It was amazing to see in the middle of a downtown Buffalo parking lot. We could only imagine what the rest of the night would be like. During the announcement of the bridal party, there were belly dancers leading the way. Then during dinner, the lights dimmed and out came performers using neon light hoola hoops and swinging around neon light ropes. The reception hall was glowing. And just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, a guy with a sword comes out. He was swinging them around and doing all sorts of crazy acrobatic moves. People were in awe. You can see the Bride and Groom in the background watching in amazement. I was a bit scared and stayed further back. Neal was all over the dance floor trying not to get sliced by the swords to get some great images. He was head on with the swordsman when he took this shot. What an awesome image! All that was going through my mind was, “Oh my God, don’t slice Neal in half”.
