FIRST LOOK ON THE 10TH GREEN!

This is how it feels to have an entire golf course to yourself! Donna and Larry got married at Niagara Frontier Country Club in Youngstown NY. They exhanged vows on the 18th hole! Larry loves to golf, so what better place to get married! This image was done on their "first look" at the 10th hole.

Larry had brought Neal out on the course a few times before the wedding, so he could scope out the course for photos. He said we would have golf carts and could pretty much go anywhere we wanted. The 10th green was the spot for Larry to see Donna for the first time in her dress. The 10th green is located on the bottom of a hill. It was perfect to get some different angles. I was shooting eye level and Neal was shooting above the hill. Neal had driven down with Larry and put him in position. Neal called me and said it was time to drive Donna down! What a ride! It was so bumpy and hilly, I thought I might tip the cart over.

Larry's back was to Donna as she began her approach. Once Neal had Donna in his camera sight, he had Larry turn around. We had Donna go right up to him. Now, Donna and Larry are both hysterically funny people. Even in the most intimate moment of seeing eachother for the first time on their wedding day, sarcasm and jokes were being cracked both ways. It made for great photos! Neal and I couldn't hold it together. All jokes aside, it was still pretty emotional. Neal caught the perfect moment between them. He was shooting through some trees and the leaves frame in the image. He wanted the pin (the golf hole flag) visible to keep with Larry's love of the sport. It turned out to be a beautiful image!

FAMILY SHOOT IN YOUNGSTOWN, NY

We had the pleasure to take photos of this lovely family. (Josh, Christina, Luka, and Caleb! Don't they all look adorable!

They had a nautical theme for their outfits. I think they did a great job! We chose to shoot their family session in the Village of Youngstown. Youngstown is known for the sail boats and the yacht club. It is a quiet little village, with just a few shops and restaurants. There were a bunch of American flags outside. It was perfect for their outfits! We had them casually take a stroll down the road and look into the shops. We told Josh and Christina to look at each other while they were walking. At that moment, both kids looked our way! How cute!

We started the shoot at Fort Niagara State Park, by Lake Ontario. It was tough to get both boys to look at the camera at the same time. (the same as with most little kids). They wanted to run around and play. No harm there! There were plenty of birds to chase after. Those images are coming soon!

I think this family has their Fourth of July picnic outfits ready! I love it!

THE GROOM AT OLD FORT NIAGARA

Last week we showed you a beauitful image of a Bride (Dana) at Fort Niagara. Here is fantastic image of her Groom (Chad) in his solo!

Their images were done at Old Fort Niagara in Youngstown, NY. Like I mentioned before, we love shooting here. There is so much history brought into every shot. We can always find locations to do things with the men or the ladies.

For Chad, we found a room that had an amazing old fire place and chair. There were windows to the side, but they didn't let in as much light as the other room Dana had her image in. This was perfect for Chad. We needed to give him a more manly scene. Next to the fireplace was an old, ornate, wooden chair. He actually took it upon himself to sit there while we were scoping out the scene. He did a great job because that's exactly where Neal wanted him. We asked him to sit how he normally would if he was just hanging out.  A casual male cross of the leg! It fit him perfectly. Chad was cracking jokes the whole time too. He had so much commentary during all the photos. But he could be serious right on que when we needed him to be. Neal asked for him to look toward the window and all talking and jokes immediately stopped from him. This shot also had that old vintage feel to it. It turned out really nice for Chad.

The posing for the guys is usually a lot more simple than for the ladies. Most of the time they do not want to be in pictures. Luckily with Chad, he was all about being center stage!

ELEGANCE AT THE OLD FORT!

Today we take you to Old Fort Niagara, in Youngstown NY. It is a piece of history to go see. And now a great place to take photos. Neal and I love shooting there!

Normally when we shoot weddings at the Fort, we work with the wedding party in the main entanceway and take the Bride and Groom through the rest. It is a historic and public landmark, so we do need to take that into consideration. Most of the time, there are tours and reinactments going on as well. Sometimes, there are cannons going off in the background! We like to walk around the property with the couple and stop in all different areas.

This image was taken in the largest building on site. We walked from room to room and came upon this beautful spot. The light was pouring in from the window. There was on old wooden chair in the corner that we pulled forward for the Bride. I did a quick test to make sure it was safe to sit on first! If I fell, no big deal haha! But it was good to go! While Neal was positioning himself for the shot, I was making sure the Bride looked perfect. We wanted her to have an elegant and graceful feel. At first we did not have her bouquet in the photo. But we noticed, there wasn't much room for her to put her hands and it looked a bit awkward. The simple addition of the bouquet and a tilt of the head away from the window was the ticket! Since her head turned away from the light we used a bounce board for some fill light to light up her face. There was so much light pouring through the window, we didn't need any other light source. The Bride looked stunning and it turned out to be a beautiful image!

LOVE ON LAKE ONTARIO!

Neal and I love engagement shoots. It is a great way to build a relationship with the couple. It gives them a taste of how we work. It also helps to build confidence in front of the camera, so the Bride and Groom are not as nervous to have their picture taken.

This engagement shoot was done at Fort Niagara State Park in Youngstown, NY. There is beautiful foliage plus a small beach right on Lake Ontario. Sometimes, you can see the highrise buildings in Toronto, Canada across the Lake. Neal loves shooting in tall grass. To the normal eye, you wouldn't think much of the tall grass. But, to Neal, it can make for a beautiful image. We placed the couple right in the heart of the tall grass, slightly off center.

We used as much natural light as possible, but it was a bit too dark on their faces. We added some artificial light to help brighten them up. The clouds were starting to roll in as well! They were big and puffy with a hint of gray to them. Neal was in heaven! We had the couple do a few different poses. Then we asked them to slowly go in for a kiss.

Sometimes the image right before the lips touch, is the more intimate shot. In this instance, it had a very dramatic feel to it. The couple is so in love and you can feel it through the image. The final product...Amazing!

THE MASTERS!

In honor of the 2015 Masters coming to a close, it felt only appropriate to share this image with you all.

No, it is not Augusta National, in Georgia, but from our very own Park Country Club in Williamsville NY. We have done many weddings there. This image was taken by Neal nearing the end of a reception. He went outside to see where we could take the Bride and Groom for their last photoshoot. While testing out some ideas, he took this image. It worked out beautifully that there were spot lights on some parts of the course to light it up. He took it from the clubhouse balcony and never had to step foot on the course. It turned in to a beautiful shot! We have a huge canvas of it in our studio if anyone wants to check it out! And of course we took the Bride and Groom out there to take advantage of it and got some amazing images!

Something you may not know about Neal, is that besides weddings, he has a strong passion for golf photography. He has been to many different courses taking pictures for either their websites or for the golf enthusiast. He has done many for Niagara Frontier Country Club in Youngstown, NY. He has also been able to photograph the most widely known course Pebble Beach and an affiliated course SpyGlass Hill. Both of these are located in California. To see more of Neal's golf images click here!

Maybe one day he'll get to photograph the Masters! Happy golfing!
