Scouting & With A Preview!

Yesterday was a good day of scouting locations for this weekends wedding.  It's great to put the computer down, get in the car, roll down the windows, turn up the music and just drive!

Todays photos are a few favorites from this past weekends wedding of Nicole and Jeffrey.  Their wedding took place at the Glen Iris Inn at Letchworth State Park.  Nicole is expecting a baby so her mobility for pictures was very limited.  We didn't need to move around much with a beautiful location like this.  She was definitely a trooper who lasted all night on the dance floor.  Congratulations on a beautiful wedding.  They're going to be great parents!  Much more to come from this wedding!

The light is near

Sorry for another boring post.  Completely swamped with computer work right now.  I see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Rainy days...

Not much to report today.  Pulled an all-nighter last night trying to catch up on work before we get busier than we are now.  I took a 6 hour nap and back at it again today!  Hope everyone is enjoying their week so far.

Todays photo is from one of the old Knox mansions in Buffalo, NY

U.S.A!

I tend to shy away from politics, religion and current events from my business/blog/facebook/twitter etc.  Instead I'll post a photo hinting to how I feel about current events.

It's of Renee and Bob in the United States Armory in Buffalo, NY where they had their reception.  They're on the 2nd floor looking down on the reception hall.  The Armory is a great piece of Buffalo architecture that often gets overlooked.

Opening day!

Yesterdays wedding was at Letchworth State Park in New York.  Nicole and Jeffrey had beautiful weather for their wedding day.  It took place at the Glen Iris Inn.  The backdrop of the ceremony is what you see in the photo below.  There was a double rainbow by the falls all day long and we definitely took advantage of it.

The photo of the day was taken before the festivities began.  We were the first ones to arrive so we walked around and took some photos to waste some time.  This is a panoramic in HDR.  It took 12 exposures to create this single image.

Memory Card Overkill

One thing I love about my camera is that it holds not one, but two memory cards at one time!  If memory card #1 fills up then #2 kicks in without any pauses.  This means that the only time I ever have to put the camera down is when I have to change a battery.

I recently ordered (two) 32GB memory cards.  They arrived in todays mail and now my camera is equipped with a whopping 64GB's!  That's a grand total of 120GB's worth of new and old memory cards!  Overkill?  Probably...

And... Here... We... Go.

I came across this special tweet from a fellow photographer.  Her name is Leah.  From my understanding she was tweeting to another photographer about photographers who influence her the most...

Here's the tweet: "Jim marshall always top of my list. Annie Leibovitz. Locally for me is Neal Urban. Can't think of others off the top of head."

To see my name with two photographers who have been around for decades is pretty neat and I just had to share!  Thanks Leah, I am flattered.

Anyways... Our wedding season officially starts tomorrow!!  I wish I could say it was a great off-season but we didn't have the best weather to enjoy.  I guess that's what we get for living in Buffalo, NY and having time off in the heart of WINTER!!!  We had the pleasure to enjoy some Florida and Las Vegas weather.  Both trips were work related but that's okay.  It was an excuse to get away.

Todays photos are from the Beyond Ghosts photo shoot at Fort Niagara, New York.  I really enjoy working with this group.  The locations are cool and they give me creative freedom.  All they ask from me is that I make them look cool.  Other than that, anything goes.

They have ghost hunts so be sure to check them out here if you want to attend.  I wish I could go but they always hunt on the weekends.

This shot was tricky and time consuming.  Every time I look at this photo I want to quote Doc Brown from the movie Back to the Future and say "Erased from Existence"  Thanks for your patience guys and girls.  I'm happy with the result.

20 minute break at Fort Niagara

Yesterday evening I had the pleasure to shoot Beyond Ghosts again.  This time the shoot was at Fort Niagara, New York.  The last time I shot the ghost hunting team was in the Buffalo Central Terminal last fall.  That's when I sprained my ankle pretty bad.  This time I walked away without injuries!

I will be posting photos from the photo shoot soon.  We took a 20 minute break to wait for better lighting.  I took a self-guided tour inside one of the buildings and this is what I captured.  Sorry, no ghosts.

Spring cleaning & upgrading

We're getting some spring cleaning done today and we also made quite a few upgrades to the business.  We upgraded on memory storage, lighting equipment and a few software upgrades that will increase workflow!  I'm super excited about the changes!

Todays photo reminds me of spring even though it was taken last fall.  The photo was taken at Lindsey's cabin where Joshua proposed.  They're an adventurous couple that said YES to every photo idea I came up with.  Gotta love it!!

It feels like summer but it looks like winter

It's great to get outside for a walk and stretch these legs!  I've also been loving the thunderstorms lately.  I'm hoping for some good weather on Saturday for my first wedding of the season.  I don't get worried when it's bad out, I seem to take my best shots when the weather is not so good!

In my photography I like to use the weather and clouds as a backdrop as often as I can.  The one thing I love about shooting in Buffalo, NY is that one minute it's bright and sunny and the next minute it's dark and cloudy.  I get excited when I see amazing cloud formations on wedding days.

In the photo of the day I had dark skies and the sun was peaking out on the horizon.  Perfect!
