Dyngus Day Promo!

Yesterday afternoon I had a photo shoot to promote the Dyngus Day party.  The party takes place at the Buffalo Central Terminal on April 25th.  Here's a shot of the band and the girls...

Neal, The Godfather!

I received some amazing news Sunday morning.  Danielle's brother, my best man, asked Danielle and I to be God Parents of their baby girl who is due to arrive next month!!!  I've never been asked something like this before.  Don't tell anyone but I got a tear in my eye when they asked me.  It feels like I just gained a daughter and can't wait until she is born.  She is going to be one spoiled little girl!! :)

Todays photo is a touching moment that I captured of Chad and his groomsmen saying a prayer minutes before the ceremony.  Chad, the groom, is from Texas and he married his bride, Tara, who's originally from Buffalo, NY.

1,000 conversations

Last night was Trimania.  It was a HUGE party/fundraiser in the building where my studio is located.  I don't think I expected that many people to be there!  My studio was jam packed the entire night!  I believe I talked to at least 1,000 people!

It was great to see people's reaction who have never seen my work before.  It was also great to meet those who say they've been following my work for years!  I hope everyone enjoyed walking through my studio and looking at my work in person.  To view my work on the internet is one thing but to see the photos up close and personal is another.   I want to thank everyone who took the time to stop in!

For those of you who are new to this blog, I try to post a new photo everyday so please keep coming back and I thank you for your support!

On to brighter days...

This week has been a roller coaster.  So many ups and downs that I'm glad it's almost over.  A lot of good things happened though.  Two family members had successful surgeries, I got my prints back from WPPI and they're now hanging in my studio, I booked a destination wedding for 2013 and I'll be photographing at the Buffalo Central Terminal a lot more... The good definitely outshines the bad.

Today is the Trimania party from 7pm-1am.  Nothing like ending this week with a bang! I will have my studio doors open for it.  I'm not taking pictures or anything.  I just want to hang out, relax and talk to those who enter my doors.  This party only happens once every three years so I'm not sure what to expect.  We might not hang around the entire time so if you get there late I apologize if our doors are closed.

See you there!

Studio cleaning day and paparazzi

It's cleaning day at the studio.  I have no idea how many people are going to walk through the door at the Trimania event tomorrow evening.  But it's a good excuse to get in there and clean up the place.  My winning prints from WPPI just arrived in the mail.  I have an empty wall waiting for them so that's another project for today!

I chose a paparazzi photo as todays photo of the day.  During the cutting of the cake or the first dances I always turn around to get a shot of the crowd behind me.  It's always fun to see people scramble to get in position for a photo opp!

Trimania!

What is Trimania?

Trimania is a huge party (fundraiser) that takes place throughout the Tri-Main building.  The event will feature visual art, live music and performance art.

Purpose?

Trimania is a fundraiser which is held every three years, to help raise much needed income for our arts center.

Why should I go?

Not only does it support a great cause like the arts of Buffalo but also a chance to come see Neal Urban Photography studio in person!  Get a chance to chat and hang out with me and view my work in person.  Also there's live music, great art and booze!!  What else can you ask for??

What time?

7pm-1am

See you there!

-Neal

Buffalo Central Terminal

Good news!  I've been chosen to be the official photographer of the Buffalo Central Terminal events.  This building has been getting a lot of buzz lately and I have high hopes for it's future.  I think this will be a great partnership and couldn't be more excited about it!

A taste of summer

It's officially Spring and I am looking out the window and the ground is covered with snow here in New York.  Last week our weather teased us with bright sunny days.  We got to enjoy looking at grass and now it's covered, again.  I needed a photo to remind me of summer.  The day of this wedding was a little too hot and humid for my liking but anything beats the snow!

It's a new day, already!?!

I definitely have to get used to this daily blogging thing.  Now I see why other professionals and businesses hire people to do this stuff for them!  I stopped doing computer work late last night/ early this morning and dug deep into my hard drives and pulled out some goodies.  Going through past weddings brought back memories and I'm so happy I get to share them...

Here's one of Brandi.  I worked with her husband John and his band Ransomville many times in the past.  On Brandi's wedding day I wanted to make sure that she got a lot of camera time.  I sent her husband and the entire bridal party away and gave her her own little photo shoot. Ever since then I try to make a point to do the same with almost every bride I shoot, even if it's only 5-10 minutes.

Some of my shots are posed. Some of them are not. Sometimes I'll sit a bride down and go hide somewhere.....

One photo per day

I keep saying that I need to blog more.  Whenever I say that I go days, weeks or possible months between blog posts.

I need motivation to put the camera and the computer editing down and I'm going to make a promise to myself to post one new photo per day!  I think it'll be fun as I dig deep into the archives of never seen before shots of mine.  I literally have hundreds of thousands of shots I'm proud of.  Bookmark my blog because you'll want to stop by everyday!

Todays photo is from the New York City wedding I shot last October.  It's Brooke, her sister and a bridesmaid walking three city blocks from her uptown apartment to the church.  I weaved in and out of traffic to get the walk from all angles.  There are so many good shots from this wedding don't be surprised if I post a lot more in the near future!
