Family Christmas Photoshoot

Last week we were hired by a wonderful family to take family photos at their home. Everyone was in town so it was the perfect opportunity to capture a family photo for them.

Instead of getting a single family photo we did all families and couples. Some with grandma and the kids, all the girls and one of all the boys etc. Even the family dog made it into a couple images. In the end they received nearly 100 different images! So much fun!

Neal here, for this we wanted almost a photobooth kind of setup so people can step into the area and get their photo taken. Once the lighting was setup, the shoot went smoothly without any issues. For the main light on the left side I put a speedlight with an umbrella raising the lightstand the highest it could go. In the back right I had a speed light in a softbox at a low setting for a kiss of backlight to separate the people from the background. I used a softbox because I didn't want the light to spill too much on the Christmas tree and the walls. Simple but effective. - Neal
